Health and Safety

Arboriculture or ’tree surgery’ as it is commonly known is one of the most inherently hazardous industries in the UK today, with national industry statistics for deaths and major injuries making sobering reading.

At Trojan Tree Care we understand the vital importance of implementing and adhering to strict health and safety procedures in all our activities, and as such are committed to minimising the risk to the welfare and safety of our staff, customers and the general public.

To this end we carry out detailed site and risk assessment prior to commencement of any work, and we undertake continuous staff training in all techniques. This is carried out by both internal and external training providers ensuring both staff and management are fully aware of new developments within the industry and safety issues pertaining to clients and customers. We also invest heavily in the very best tools, plant and personal protective equipment money can buy.

This all costs money and as a small unregulated industry the result is that the vast majority of contractors in your Thompson local and yellow pages have health and safety measures which fall far short of this!

The risk for those employing these companies is that in the event of an accident, liability insurance is void if health and safety legislation has not been adhered to and you as the employer could be held liable.

The message is just to check thoroughly before employing a company, especially when comparing quotations because in most cases the old adage stands, ‘you get what you pay for’.

At Trojan Tree Care we adhere to:
  • The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974
  • The Management of Health & Safety at Work Act 1992, this includes RIDDOR
  • The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations
  • COSHH Regulations
  • LOLER Regulations
  • Work at height regulations
